This crowd of people look mean and up to no good.

Who are they and what are their intentions?

Are they a gang of angry, thick headed football hooligans dressed up like ancient Vikings ready to go on a rampage because their team has lost or something?

They surely look the part and their aspect doesn’t seem friendly at all.

No, actually they are a bunch of usually perfectly well-behaved Genoese people who have read in the media that a well-known Italian food firm has decided to launch a new pesto with lemon juice in it.

Once the news reached their ears, fuming with rage for such an outrage to their most beloved Ligurian sauce, got together, dressed up like armoured ancient Viking warriors and decided to go on a march, with the intention of flattening the vile food factory out of existence for having even thought of such idea.

You may say: “OK mister, pesto is nice and yummy, especially on pasta, bread, tomatoes or boiled eggs halves, but their reaction seems way too much!”

Well, anybody who knows Italians well will tell you that such a behaviour can be expected when their traditional national recipes are interfered with absurd additions.

Italians are normally nice, friendly, warm, chatty and committed pacifists with a great sense of hospitality, but if you threaten their national culinary treasures, such as putting cream on spaghetti carbonara, or pineapple on pizza, they become fiercely belligerent like female bears trying to protect their cubs in order to defend their great cuisine with teeth and claws.

So, this is the post today.

Therefore, my advice to you dear reader is that when you go to a good Italian restaurant for a meal, when you order a traditional dish, eat what they bring to you and don’t come up with silly ideas that interfere with their lovely cuisine.

Whishing you a very good day and plenty of health.
