The Story of the Responsible Humming Bird

_______

In the forest there is a sudden huge fire.

Soon, the animals inhabiting it realise that it will grow bigger and will destroy the forest with all of them if they don’t quickly escape.

They all run desperately away to safety.

The last of them to leave the flaming blaze is the lion, because being the king of the animals, he feels that is his duty to be the last to abandon the forest.

When he is on the way out from the flaming inferno, he sees a tiny humming bird that is flying towards the flaming forest carrying a little drop of water on his chest.

Astonished the lion asks it: “Why are you flying towards the flames?”

To him the humming bird replies: “I’m going to play my part in trying to save the forest.”

This lovely ancient Africa tale is about responsibility that is one of the most important virtues. One that shows the true worth and valor of a person.

Unfortunately, in our modern world where people are instigated daily in making money and pursuing material success at all costs responsibility has been substituted by apathy, greed and selfishness with the result that everyone is going to be a loser in the end.

Conclusion:

The world doesn’t need more lying ambitious politicians, capricious self-centred multi-billionaires, vacuous over hyped celebrities, manipulative gurus and charlatans, but just ordinary people with a strong sense of responsibility who with their work, good will and respect for all living beings and the environment do their part in trying to make the world a good safe and enjoyable place for everybody.
